Had Alchemised out from the library but decided to return it and place another hold. I think this is the third or fourth time I've had it out lol. One day I'll read it and finish my mini reading project. One day...

Feeling very sluggish today, with a slight headache. Didn't sleep well last night o(-(

It should be illegal to have that many meetings in one day.

Tried this cafe latte protein shake I got from Costco. Taste-wise, it's mid but tolerable. It claims to have the equivalent of one cup of coffee in caffeine, but man was I buzzed.

Read more of The Hollow Places today and it's okay. I do think this will probably be the last T. Kingfisher I read, however. She's just not for me.

Got coffee today and headed to this new puppy store location with E! (The store does say they require their breeders to be licensed and has standards for who they pick and choose, but I'm still a little dubious tbh. I think they should require genetic testing for breed-specific condtions and maybe require purebreds to be AKC-certified, but eh.) Anyway, the puppies were absolutely adorable! There was this Keeshond puppy that was soooo cute! This is the first time I've ever seen a Keeshond before, didn't know the breed was a thing. They're fluffy spitz dogs, kinda similar to a Pomeranian. She was sooooo fluffy and I could feel the difference in her thick double coat compared to the other puppies. Afterward, we book shopped and ran errands together.

Was listening to this week's Discover Weekly on Spotify while working. It was absolute ass. On my hands and knees begging Spotify to stop recommending lofi slop. orz

Book club got pushed back to April. Very productive day today! Yippee!

Went for a jog around the neighborhood. There's this one house that often has a golden retriever out back. I liked to stop by and pet him but today, I discovered they redid their fencing so I can no longer see their backyard. Oops. Hope they didn't decide to do that because they saw me leaning over, petting their dog lol.

VERY windy today. The entire house was shaking. Guess it might be from the cold and warm air mixing?

I've been in this one internet space on and off for like... eight years now. Recently, it has been especially insufferable. Is there something in the water? Is Mercury in retrograde? What's the big deal? Been feeling very cranky and a little upset about it tbh. Makes me wistful for the internet during the 2010s. I mean, I thought the internet was annoying then but post-covid, it's practically intolerable.

Ah. My period started today. That explains my mood lately lol. This happens every time. I really should know better by now lmao. That anxiety, malaise, and general sense of impending doom is because of your luteal phase, dummy. Stop being so emo every month when it happens.

Wowza, it's really nice today! Feeling less tired but I have a headache...

When I went into CSP today, I discovered that all of my downloaded brushes were gone. Erm... when did that happen and why? Had to reinstall everything and hunt down some deleted brushes. Incredibly thankful I was lazy and never deleted those brushes I downloaded to my computer.

Edited my site more today. Made a preliminary site layout in CSP and am working on drawing some doodles for the main page. I spent so long procrastinating on my winter layout that spring has come around and now I need to do a spring refresh...

Hmm. Is it normal for it to be in the 80s during March? (We are so cooked.)

Spring Equinox
Ow ow ow ow ow ow idk what I did but my shoulder hurts... It hurts to move. When I tried to get out of bed, I must have looked like a flipped over turtle, with the way I was flailing around, trying to find a way to roll over without my shoulder hurting.

My shoulder still hurts but slightly less today. The pain doesn't feel as sharp. Spent the day drawing and editing my site. I think it's ready to go but I guess I'll update my calendar tomorrow so that I have something more to update the site with, aside from a general refresh.

Spent the afternoon catching up on this calendar (hello!) and will be updating my neocities after. Tbh, I'm not entirely satisfied with this spring layout. I think the lace background worked for winter but idk, not feeling it for spring. I'll probably do something different once summer rolls around. Just not sure what yet. Anyway, this time for real, I'll be working on all of the other pages and getting them back up. My site being this empty for this long is making feel antsy. It hasn't been this bereft of pages since I first created it, way back when.

My shoulder is doing a lot better now. I think I'm mostly fully recovered but it does twinge on occasion. This shoulder has always been the problematic one, however. I used to have chronic pain in it when I played the violin regularly.

Mama mia, it's sunny today! Was lazy and went out without sunscreen and I can tell my skin isn't happy. Not quite sunburned, but that point right before sunburn, where your skin feels extra sensitive.

Book Club
Visited my dad with my brother. He took us for a drive in his fancy new sports car. I don't know anything about cars. It's a Mercedes-Benz V8 of sorts. (Or at least, I think it was Mercedes? It was one of the German automakers. I've heard people talk about face-blindness. I think, honest to god, I have car-blindness.) Anyway I was kind of white-knuckling it while sitting in the back. It's a 2 door car, so there's not much room in the back. This isn't something I've ever told anyone, but I have recurring nightmares about getting into car crashes, usually due to brake failure, so sitting there while my dad showed off the car's acceleration, handling, and brake capabilities, was nerve-wracking. He showed off the engine (it was very large) and pointed out the little plaque that had the name of the one guy who made the entire thing. I think the next time he offers to drive me in it, I'll probably pass lmao. The car is cool, I guess, but I'm not a car person and riding in it wasn't the smoothest experience. Since it's a sports car, it's very squirrelly.

A very beautiful day today! Went grocery shopping at various stores before heading back to update my neocities! The about page is back, but new and improved (with iframes, ooh)! Tweaked some stuff, added some stuff, and spent forever answering two questionnaires.

Neocities update! Pushed my calendar update and was a day catching up on household chores.

Heard a loud banging noise last night from the garage, like as if something had fallen over. Didn't see anything, so I didn't think much but discovered this morning that the garage door opener mechanism had broke lol. Had to call someone to replace it. -$1,800 but at least it's fixed now. And the new opener is super quiet. The old garage door opener was apparently giga old and outdated.

The garage door repair guy came back to install the numpad.

Spent my evening catching up on my book reviews. High octane Friday night, I know.

Went for a jog in the park. Well. 'Jog' might be a strong word for what I was doing lol. 'Flailing around while gasping for breath' might be more accurate.

Apparently today was the Super Bowl? Don't know anything about that.

Woke up today feeling very productive/motivated. Naturally, my fuckass phone decided to break. It randomly froze up, so I forced a restart. Unfortunately, it got stuck in a reboot loop. When I tried to restart into recovery mode, it still got stuck in a reboot loop, just in recovery mode now. Luckily, I was able to load my phone into Download mode, so not all was lost. I had to download Odin and reflash my phone's firmware, wiping everything on the phone and forcing it to essentially factory reset. Currently stuck trying to set my phone back up, because Google is being a bitch. It freaked out when I tried to log in on my phone, so now there's a 24-hour critical security alert on my account and I can't do anything until 24 hours have passed. Grrrr... (Was really awkward panicking about my phone between work meetings lol.)

After having to wait the ENTIRE 24 HOURS, I got my phone setup. Everything seems to be working? A little upset that I lost a bunch of photos/downloaded images not saved to my SD card... I checked my SD card and I have stuff from early Dec 2024 and back, so I basically lost over a year's worth of pictures.

Finished setting up my phone (I think). Reinstalled revanced, added birthdays back to my calendar, logged back into apps, etc.

I keep thinking I've finished tweaking my phone until something randomly bothers me and I have to edit things. From the order of app shortcuts on my home screen to the order of buttons up top, on the swipe-down menu, they need to be exactly right and the way they were before. Muscle memory has me tapping at specific points on my screen and when things aren't right, I get really irritated lol. I was going to listen to music but got annoyed when I realized the bluetooth button wasn't in the right place (it needed to be swapped with the flashlight button).

Happy Galentine's Day! To celebrate, I went to this Ethiopian restaurant with friends. Never had Ethiopian cuisine before, but it was tasty! We ordered this large platter of different dishes we could eat with injera. My favorites were the stewed chicken with hardboiled eggs and the stewed lentils. Not the biggest fan of injera, however. I don't like sour breads (sourdough sucks, fight me) and the texture vaguely reminds me of how I'd imagine eating a mouse pad might feel like. Still, I really liked the food. There's an option to get the dishes with rice so that's what I'll do next time.

It snowed today! (And quite heavily too!) Unfortunatey, it all melted before the evening.

Switched inks in my Lamy Safari and tried out Diamine Ancient Copper. It's quite beautiful! Overall, I've been pretty meh towards Diamine inks (affordable price, colors don't appeal to me), but I will say the reds I've tried (Oxblood & Ancient Copper) are nice.

Finished reading The Second Death of Locke, just in time for book club. Thought it was mid.

Book Club
Visited a local gelateria where we started our morning with affogatos. It was delicious! The espresso was so smooth and the gelato so creamy! Haven't tried this place before but will definitely be back. I can't stop thinking about that affogato... Anyway, we chatted and headed back for breakfast at S's house. While eating, we discussed the book (The Second Death of Locke). I'd say overall, we thought it was pretty mediocre. Afterward, we got coffee and did a Costco run together.

Was listening to a video while washing dishes (as one does), and I'm reminded, once again, how much I hate the phrase "consume content." Idk, it just gives me the ick, as the kids say. I think just the general phrasing, to say you "consume" content, brings to mind the simultaneous devaluation and exploitation of art under capitalism. To say you consume something makes it seem like you're just eating it. It feels so temporary and... vapid? I don't think that's the right word, but it feels like it diminishes the interaction between you, the viewer, and the art. I also just hate the word "content." It feels so soulless and corpo, more akin to slop than art. Just say media or be specific about the particular medium. Even when it comes to social media and "content creation," I still don't like it and can't help but cringe.

Against my will, saw old SU art Rebecca Sugar drew of Greg pressuring Pearl into having sex with him and am now utterly disgusted. Fucking vile.

It's been so gloomy lately and I'm so sleepy...

My TWSBI Eco piston got stuck again... ._. Note to self: the next time the piston has even the slightest resistance and doesn't slide up and down all buttery smooth, YOU NEED TO REGREASE IT!!!! DON'T BE LAZY!!! (Anyway, if this happens to you, just soak the entire pen in a dish soap/water solution. You want to draw the soapy water up into the pen, like you do with ink, to lubricate the piston. It'll make a soapy mess and you'll have soap leaking out from the top, but that's fine. Once the piston is all soapy and you can move it up and down, you'll be able to take the pen apart like normal. Rinse everything well and make sure to apply silicone grease before reassembling.

Went to the park with E and her dog. We chatted while walking around. The weather was really pleasant and there were so many other people walking dogs. E's dog is still in the process of getting socialized. I'd give him a C- for the day. Not terrible but not great. He's fine with small dogs but gets a little antsy towards medium to large dogs. I still think he has a height complex, which is a little funny considering he's enormous and probably weighs as much as I do, if not a little more.

After several gloomy days, the sun finally came out! I'm starting to wonder if it's going to snow at all this winter...

Made sourdough bread for my mom (I don't really like sourdough...) and spinach and cheese ravioli. Yum!

Finished my 2026 goals and intentions, weeded my tbr and also added new books. Made pork kimchi jigae. Also made banana bread with those really old (and kinda gross at this point lmao) bananas. Surprisingly, the banana bread was only mildly sweet. I guess I should have added more sugar?

Saw that a new Alexa Donne video dropped out of nowhere! I have zero interest in being an author, but I really loved watching her channel during the pandemic. She's so millennial, it's charming. All this cruise talk is making me reconsider my stance on cruises. Maybe I'll give one a try one day.

Finally wrote my review for The Willows and made my 2026 book pages in my notion and neocities. Also, I keep adding books to my tbr lol

Was planning on uploading my journal entry today but the world is conspiring against me!!

Today, I took a picture of my Cousin and was editing it because I need a picture for my journal entry. Then, while I was exporting the new image file, CSP and seemingly the rest of my computer froze. So, I was forced to power off my PC. But, when I tried to reopen CSP, it kept freezing. I could move my mouse around fine, but literally everything else was frozen. Not even pressing ctrl + alt+ del to force open Task Manager would work. After much troubleshooting, I narrowed the issue down to my fuckass graphics drivers. Whenever I would start CSP, it would cause a deadlock, freezing everything. I tried updating my NVIDIA graphics drivers but I still had the issue so I had to manually go into settings and set CSP to the generic Intel graphics card. Argh!!! So annoying!!! I hate Windows 10!!! Everything has started breaking after they did their final update!!!! And I refuse to upgrade!!! Because somehow Windows 11 is even worse!!!! How the fuck do you make Windows 11 worse than already dogshit Windows 10!!! But now CSP works again, so there's that. And I haven't noticed any differences after forcing the other graphics driver. Anyway, because of this, I wasn't able to update my neocities. But everything is ready to go!

Updated my neocities! Posted my new and improved journal! I'll need to go and resize those Korea pics sometime. They're like... waaaay too high quality. They take up too much space lol.

Computer problems... Aaaargh!!!! Fuck my chungus life!! Why oh why do I keep getting all of these tech issues!! Today, I noticed an issue where, whenever I pressed my power button, my laptop would hard boot instead of going to sleep. Even when I manually selected sleep from the main menu, it would still boot. First, I checked my graphics drivers (again). Then, firmware drivers and power settings. Then, I tested if it was battery-related (no) and if registry tweaks would work (also no). Finally, I did an in-place install/repair of Windows 10, which took forever. No dice. It still doesn't work, despite powercfg /a stating that S3 (sleep) is functional. At this point, I was forced to accept it... My laptop, my beloved puter, who has seen me through school and more, is getting old. It's most likely hardware related. Probably something funky with the embedded controller or the power rail on the motherboard. Nothing I can do about that. I just disabled sleep in the power settings and replaced it with hibernate. I still have my desktop computer, so if my laptop croaks, it's not that big of a deal. But I'll still be sad... I can't work on my desktop in bed! Or on the couch. Or carry it around to cafes! I know miss puter is like, closer to 10 years old than she is 5, but still. She suits my needs just fine and can run all of the games I want. Hang in there, old girl. ;w; I'm not ready to say goodbye to you quite yet.

Computer problems x2 (But not as bad edition) My puter seems mostly fine today. In fact, I think Windows might be running faster. Pro tip, I guess? Windows running slow? Try reinstalling it! However, I noticed whenever I boot up my laptop, it has a weird issue where it seems to hang on loading the desktop. There is a black screen. I can see and move my mouse but that's it. After a little bit, the desktop will finally load. I wasn't sure if it was a big deal, but after yesterday's issues, I'm extra paranoid. After doing some testing, I think it's my antivirus that is holding things up. Really, I should have gotten rid of it years back and switched to Windows Security, because it's just as good and more lightweight. Well, better now than never I guess. Had to boot into safe mode to uninstall it (and clean up those leftover Windows install files) but now everything seems good. It boots fine, so it was the antivirus. Really thankful the issue was that and not a more serious reason. :') (Miss puter... you've really been stressing me out lately...)

Hung out with E today! Yippee! Woke up early to finish work for the week. Then we got coffee and browsed TJ Maxx because I had a gift card. I don't think I've ever been in a TJ Maxx before. It's like if you combined Ross with a mall department store. Pretty neat! I liked their mug and tea section. I'll probably go back later and clothes shop or something. Afterward, we wandered around Barnes & Noble because she had a gift card. The fantasy section has expanded since the last time I visited. Happy to see it! (I'm pretty sure it expanded because of romantasy and cozy fantasy, but whatever. I welcome one and all to fantasy.) It's now really big, like probably the biggest genre section by far. Admittedly, I was a little confused by their shelving. They had some romantasy books in fantasy and others in romance, which is across from the fantasy section. Not sure what makes a romantasy more romance than fantasy, but ah well. Afterward we headed to Walmart because we both needed to pick up some things. I actually haven't browsed their normal items stuff in a while. I usually go in and out for essentials and groceries (if I have to get groceries there). But their selection was actually pretty decent. Nabbed some more Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pens, which I never expected Walmart of all places to carry. How convenient! One of my brush pens was running dry.

Started playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus again. Having a good time! It's fun playing it again after knowing what happens. I didn't realize that Volo was your first battle. 👀 He seems a lot more sinister now that I know who he is. I've got my eye on you, mister!

Book club got pushed back to February. Maybe my hold will come in by then. Also very sleepy today...

Gyah! The back of my throat is all inflamed and hurts. My sinuses are also stinging... I don't think I'm getting sick though. I think maybe allergies/post-nasal drip irritated my throat.

Couldn't really sleep last night. @A@ It snowed a little this morning. I think that might have been the first snow this winter? Unfortunately, it all melted by noon. Kinda funny that the other half of the country is being hammered by snowstorms. Meanwhile the western part is looking a little... dry. Fire season is going to be rough, methinks. My throat feels better but now my nose is all runny...

Hmm. Was thinking it was just allergies but now I'm wondering if I'm a little sick? Just a teensy weensy little bit though. I feel mostly fine, ignoring the runny nose, occasional sneezing fits, slight chills, and mild headache if I tip my head around. I wonder if it's a minor sinus infection or something.

Was trying to figure out iframes today. My plan was to have subpages (like this one) be iframes so that the viewer's choice in enabling/disabling the snow button remains consistent across their browsing. I did get it all working. I even had a scrap of javascript that would swap/hide images depending on the page loaded into the iframe. But then I ran into the issue of my navbar. The submenu function is very finicky. I found when you clicked on a submenu link, it would cause the submenu to not work again, unless you happened to click on a main page item (that had a submenu). And even then, only that specific submenu would toggle and not any of the others. (So, say I clicked on Calendar. That would cause all submenus to not function. But, if I clicked on Video Games, which is currently unlinked, Video Game's submenu would start working again. Nothing else though. If I clicked on Other, that submenu would work but Video Game's would be broken again.) Considering that I plan on having all items be actual links sometime whenever, this is not good. I couldn't figure out how to get the submenu working normally. I tried tweaking my css. I tried a javascript fix. Nothing worked, and unfortunately, I'm very married to my horizontal navbar with a dropdown menu. We've been together for so long. Swapping to a vertical layout would be weird and trying to cram everything into the horizontal navbar instead of having submenus? Absolutely not! So we're going back to ol' faithful (having every page be a separate page and not an iframe lol). Sorry, I tried to find an elegant solution, but alas.

Book Club
Feeling better today. My nose is no longer leaking and I can kinda breathe through it. While in the shower today, I thought of a solution to my navbar issue. Unfortunately, it only partially worked. Also, I got rid of all of the changes I made to my css file to accommodate the iframe version. I would have to write all of that again and I don't feel like it. Sorry!

Very windy and pleasantly cool. Randomly had a dream about a warrior cats rp site I ran when I was in middle school. I created it myself but abandoned it after a while. However, there was a group of dedicated users who rp'd on it for months. I felt a little bad when I ended up closing the site later. Haven't thought about that in years.

Slowly crawling out my slump... Started The Ink Black Heart. Really, I should be starting the book club book but eh. Super windy today.

For whatever reason, I keep thinking that it's Wednesday. After procrastinating on it for weeks, finally dusted off my resume.

Realized it's been well over a month since my last Neocities update. Oops! Worked on backfilling my calendar page a bit, with the help of my trusty Hobonichi Cousin.

Learned that the coffee shop I've been going to for the past decade is closing later this month... Pretty sad but I'll admit I'm mainly upset because I'll have to find a different spot. Most coffee shops aren't suitable to work in (either they're too small, too crowded, or too loud).

Feels like summer today. Updated my neocities and will be meeting with friends later.

Feeling nostalgic today. It must have snowed during the recent storms, because the mountains are covered in snow again. Probably won't help with the ongoing flooding and landslides up there.

$450 for a Switch 2 and $70-80 for games? Ain't no way. 💀 Also what is it with Fromsoft and multiplayer games lately? Miyazaki needs to stop playing Tarkov.

When I was a kid, I felt older than my age. Now, I feel much younger. I know it's incredibly common to feel that way as an adult. I've heard people in their 70s and 80s say that they still feel like they're in their 20s. But this is different. I feel mentally stunted, like a shrunken sapling that never grew into a full tree.

Idk how, but somehow I found myself reading Meghan Markle gossip during my lunch break. I don't gaf about the royal family, but the gossip was entertaining. Low stakes and very petty. My opinion on Meghan has soured over the years, but I do think some Meghan antis are giga unhinged. She's like a 2 for 1 combo. You get to laugh at her and her antis.

Decided to write a bit in an old Moleskine notebook and the feathering/bleedthrough is insane with a fountain pen. And I'm using an EF nib with light(ish) ink! I know not all paper is suitable for fountain pens, but I didn't think it would be that bad, especially considering the price of Moleskines. 💀 Overpriced slop. My Leuchtturm handles my fountain pen just fine.

With all of the Oblivion remake rumors floating around, I decided to reinstall Oblivion in case Bethesda does anything fucky-wucky with the original game. I was planning on playing it, but now I'm paralyzed in terms of finding mods lmao. Out of the three recent-ish Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion is the only one I haven't beaten and am the least familiar with. I played it a bit when it first came out, but it was technically my brother's game and he was a butt when it came to me playing his games. Anyway, I ended up booting up Morrowind instead. Ah, Morrowind my beloved...

In the morning, went to a coffee shop to do some work. Drank an irish creme breve. Then, headed to the park with E and her dog. It was slightly humid and cooler than I expected. We stopped by a boba shop later and I got a basic milk green tea with boba.

Finally got Oblivion up and running. I'm surprised by how unstable it is, compared to Skyrim or Morrowind. Those two games rarely crash, while Oblivion has ctd'd 4 times in the past 2 days. And I don't think it's my mods either, because it crashed when I first booted it up with no mods. "It just works" my ass. Todd Howard, answer for your crimes.

Slumping giga hard. Trying to get my shit together. Was planning on going for a walk but then had to fix my Spotify Revanced. Grr.....

Got my free scam drink from a local coffee chain. (They have an app where, if you haven't purchased from them in a long time, they'll give you a coupon. The coupon escalates from $1 off to $3 off to eventually a free drink over several months. I've managed to scam free coffee from them several times using this method. XD)

Not a very productive day. Felt very anxious.

Visited my dad's house today. He recently got new speakers, so he showed them off by playing some music. He has a really impressive physical music collection. Also ran some errands after.

Don't really celebrate Easter, aside from making a fancy dinner. Had prime rib, stuffing, roasted broccoli, pasta, and roasted potatoes.

Earth Day
One of the worst days I've had in years.

My eyes are super puffy today. I hate crying a lot. For some reason, I start smelling this acrid scent in the back of my nose whenever I cry a ton. Smelled that last night and a little bit today. Ordered takeout. Got drunken noodles. Art drama has hit the timeline. Been watching a streamer play Oblivion Remastered. Looks pretty but a little clunky. Might check it out in a year. I feel no need to play it now since I started a playthrough of the original Oblivion. Also, it apparently runs like ass, so I'm hoping maybe in a year, the performance will be better.

Feeling a little bit better today. Reviewed yesterday's callout in detail and am a little disappointed. All that, over nothing? In my opinion, the person making the callout is more of a schizo than the person getting called out.

Mild and cloudy today, started raining hard in the evening.

I don't like it when people wear circle lenses. It makes them look creepy, like lizard people.

Been playing Oblivion on and off, and am finally feeling settled into it. I'm playing a Khajiit character named Masha. It's funny comparing her to my Nerevarine and Dragonborn. They're super OP. Meanwhile, Masha is just happy to be here.

Trying to get out of my slump. Went for a walk and it started to drizzle while I was out. Rude.

Passed by a crime scene(???) on the way to and from the library. Several police were standing outside of a house that had been sectioned off by police tape. They taped around the entire property, including the SUV that was parked outside, by wrapping tape around its body and mirrors. Seems a bit excessive. No clue what happened.

Got a hazelnut breve and went to the park with E and her dog. We met a distinguished old Chihuahua named Peanut and an adorable puppy named Blue. Her dog is doing better at meeting other dogs. I still think he has a height complex, though. He's very gentle with small dogs but has issues with larger ones. It's funny because he's bigger than 99% of the dogs we meet. He's still a puppy but weighs over 100 lbs.

It's been almost three months, but my Arcane artbook FINALLY arrived! I ordered it in December from a shady 3rd party seller on Amazon. It was sold out everywhere else. Ngl, I thought I was getting scammed because the price was unusually reasonable for a sold-out item. So, I'm very pleased it actually arrived. (And in perfect condition too!) Been flipping through it. The pages smell so nice~

Okay, guess it's back to being old-fashioned and downloading mp3s. I suppose it's for the best. I've been slacking on updating the archive of my music library.

Witnessed moidal kombat in the Costco parking lot today. Two men were fighting because of parking, or something. They looked as you would expect. Red-faced, pudgy, bald, with distended guts due to steroid abuse. As I left, I heard one of the Costco attendants talking to his manager, saying the cops had been called.

Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel Mini Review: I like it so far! I have sensitive combination skin and haven't had any issues. It feels very lightweight and not greasy at all. There's no white cast and it dries quickly. My only complaint is that it's fairly pricey for such a small tube.

Went for a walk today to enjoy the mild, pleasant weather. It's supposed to cool down starting tomorrow, so I'm a little sad.

In the evening, I went painting at this local pottery shop. I've been working on this soap pump dispenser thingy for ages. I'm getting close to being done! All I need to do is finish the main coat and then touch up the details. Should be done in 1-2 sessions.

Stayed up late to see the total lunar eclipse! It was cloudy all day, but luckily the sky cleared up in the evening.

"Would you like to update Notion?" No, I would not. Stop asking. Everytime I open this godforsaken app on my PC, it asks to update. Everytime I click yes. And then everytime afterwards, it asks to update again. I don't get it. It's almost as annoying as Windows when it comes to constant updates. Wtf are the devs even updating? Their shitty AI that I don't even have enabled? (If you ask support nicely, they'll disable it for you.)

St. Patrick's Day
A very gloomy St. Paddy's Day. Started reading The Library at Mount Char.

It... snailed(?) today. Not quite snow, not quite hail. Very strange spring weather. Half the sky was blue, the other half looked like a weird half-assed blizzard of mushy hail. Shortly after, the sun came out and it all immediately melted.

Finished reading The Library at Mount Char in the evening. It was... hmm. Not what I was expecting, to say the least.

Happy 1st day of spring! Bit of a gloomy start. Stopped by the library today to pick up a hold and return books.

Poor mental health day and some health anxieties, my mood matched the weather

Book Club
Met up early to have book club over breakfast! We arrived at this breakfast cafe 20 minutes after it opened, and it was already packed with a 40 minute wait. So, we reserved our spot and went to a bakery to chat before heading back to eat. The food was very good! I ate so much. We all unanimously hated The Library at Mount Char lmao. It was fun tearing it apart. Although it was a little awkward, because our waitress always checked on us whenever we were discussing dark topics from the book, like murder and rape. Talk about awkward timing! Afterward, we got matcha smoothies and headed to the park. Recently, there's been a... social-political situation that has garnered national and international attention. This weekend, people are hosting an event in support of someone involved in that situation. Apparently, yesterday, over 1,000 people showed up over the course of the day. Today, there was less but still a steady flow. Sometimes, especially recently, I feel so blackpilled over the state of the world. It sometimes feels like no one cares and nothing matters and everything will inevitably slide towards being worse. So, seeing all of that support and being a part of it is truly uplifting.

Felt tired and had a headache, but I went painting and finally finished painting my soap dispenser thingy! I'm not fully satisfied with the way it turned out (some of the details are kinda lumpy looking), but I'm glad to be done with it! It should be ready to be picked up in like a week or so. They fire the pottery pieces in batches.

Decided to dnf A Curious Beginning. The main character was annoying me. I wouldn't exactly call her an NLOG, but she was giving ye olde Victorian NLOG vibes. Also I got annoyed when Veronica fed a dog soup that contained onions. Erm, hello?? Onions are highly toxic to dogs?? Not only is she an NLOG (kinda), but she's trying to poison a dog? Ye gods!

Less tired but I still have a headache. I think it might be caused by eyestrain. My eyes have been really bad lately. Went for a walk. Very pleasant weather, today was the start of a warm weather streak.

Dad's Birthday
Happy Birthday to my dad! Since it's the middle of the week, we can't really celebrate until the weekend.

High anxiety day. Been struggling with health anxiety lately. Can't tell if I genuinely feel bad or if I'm psyching myself into feeling bad.

Very windy today. Went for a walk and a cute old border collie followed me around for pets. I was a little worried she would keep following me away from her home, so I awkwardly entered her owners' open garage and led her to their backyard, where her owners were doing yard work. They thanked me and I went on my way. The dog looked a little offended as I left.

Colder and gloomier today. Tried 'white chili' for the first time. It was pretty tasty! Started listening to We'll Prescribe You a Cat. It's one of those quirky Japanese cat books that have been translated recently. Idk how I feel about it. I'm mostly indifferent to it and I don't really like the narrator. I suppose at the very least it'll be interesting to hear more about Japan's soul-crushing work culture from a Japanese author.

Decided to dnf We'll Prescribe You a Cat. Still felt indifferent so there's no point in continuing. Because I wanted to have an audiobook to listen to, I browsed Libby and checked out Financial Feminist on a whim. It's a little cringe. Very girlboss, libfemy a la mid 2010s (although it was published in 2022). I do like how passionate the author is and some of the intersectional points she brought up. I also appreciated that she noted that a person's financial situation is often caused by factors out of their control (such as being born into poverty, recession or natural disaster, abusive relationships, etc.), but you can still strive to improve your situation, little by little, and work towards financial independence.. Often times, financial books preach a toxic mentality about always working more while spending nothing. As long as you have debt, they seem to believe you cannot enjoy life and must toil away 24/7. This is defnitely not the approach the author is taking. Will probably listen to this for a bit, but I have a feeling I'll end up dropping it to read it physically.

Had steak with roasted potatoes, roasted broccoli, and asparagus for dinner. Been making an effort to eat more meat lately because I'm pretty sure I had a vitamin B12 deficiency and vitamin B supplements give me pizza face.

A comedy of errors today. Got flowers and went to drop them off with gifts for a friend's birthday but it turns out they're out of town. 💀 It didn't even occur to me that there was a possibility of them being gone. That's on me, though. I probably should have texted them before buying flowers, not after. Then went to pick up my soap dispenser thingy at the pottery place but it turns out there was a mistake and my piece wasn't fired in the kiln with the rest of the batch. It'll be ready next week (for real this time).

Woke up to heavy winds and sleet pounding against the window. Made budae jjigae for dinner. E texted me that NaNoWriMo was shuting down. Kind of sad about it. I haven't participated in years and I know they had controversies lately, but it's still a shame. I hope people will still keep the spirit of NaNoWriMo alive, kind of like how people do Inktober.
